This rich, deeply impressive Chardonnay is the baby of Sacred Hill's Tony Bish - and very limited in production (only 100 odd dozen was made). Tony's Chardonnay expertise shines through in one of the best new releases we have ever tried. He has a special love of the Mendoza Chardonnay clone, which is showcased here in all its full-textured, full-flavoured glory from dry-grown old vines in Hawkes Bay's Skeetfield Vineyard. The grapes were gently handled and their sheer quality means a year in oak (60% new) merely embellishes what's already there in the depth and texture. Mouth-filling, opulent and powerful, this is New Zealand Chardonnay showing off big time. It's dangerously delicious now, but if you can age it a few years you'll get the real value. Knockout stuff!
