This Merlot Malbec replaces our East Coast Merlot. The addition of Malbec to the blend creates just a little more character, colour and depth to the wine. This is a wine from a well-established winery in Hawkes Bay. I can’t give any names but they are famous for their use of very few preservatives within their wines. This wine has a fruit driven lifted style displaying spicy berry fruit with notes of violets and red berries with chocolate and hints of toasty oak. The palate is rich, ripe and full bodied with soft supple tannin and shows a bouquet reminiscent of blackberry, fruitcake, mulberry and cedar with complex notes of spice all melded together from 12 months maturation in French oak barrels.
